KEPRO Event
Date: 12th September 2023 Time: 8.30 am to 1.00 pm Location: PrideInn Azure Hotel, Lantana Road, Nairobi Theme: Conceptualization to Implementation: Design Guidelines for a Recycling Economy
Overview The workshop, organized by the Kenya Extended Producer Responsibility Organization (KEPRO) in partnership with the Kenya Plastics Pact (KPP), successfully brought together over 50 packaging value chain stakeholders. This included manufacturers, brand owners, retailers, waste management operators, and other relevant actors.
The session dissected Kenya's Design Guidelines for Recyclability for PET bottles, HDPE bottles, and Jars. The purpose of these guidelines is to offer clear suggestions to decision-makers on how to design plastic packaging that can be easily recycled using current and future mechanical recycling infrastructure.
